The H2O filter for use with ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 using SFC

The ZPure H2O Filter removes moisture from inert gases, He, Ar, N2, H2, methane and clean dry air (CDA) to low ppb levels, with very high capacity. It is recommended for any application that requires ultra-dry gas, and is available in 130cc and 475cc stainless steel cylinders with standard 1/4” and 1/8” brass and stainless steel compression fittings.

ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 using Supercritical Fluid Chromatography has been approved as an alternative to FIA ASTM D1319 standard test method for Hydrocarbon Types in Liquid Petroleum Products. This filter was manufactured with molecular sieve 3A by customer request for use with a Supercritical Fluid Chromatograph.

Moisture Removal for Specialized Applications

  •  CO2 purification for SFC - In the petroleum industry, both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have approved ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 for final product release of gasoline and diesel fuels. In this type of application, the reduced heating of 3A is expected to reduce desorption of already bound moisture, protecting sensitive and expensive columns.
  •  Mixed source gas - Purifiers should not be used to remove water from individual gas samples intended for analysis; some proportionation may occur.  Gas purifiers typically use either molecular sieve 5A or 13X adsorbents to remove water from gas streams. These are beneficial for carrier gases used with GC or GC/MS, because in addition to water they also remove many other common contaminants. (“5” and “13” refer to the adsorbent’s pore diameter in angstroms.) In some applications, however, 3A molecular sieve with smaller pore size may be preferred. It removes water yet excludes almost all larger molecules including CO2, the carrier used in Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC). Since CO2 is excluded there is no significant temperature rise on installation, due to heat of adsorption, which may occur with 5A or 13X purifiers.

What is a Ferrule?

Available in materials such as brass, steel, graphite and a variety of different plastics, ferrules connect two components together. The term is primarily tied to scientific experiments and practices, 

Fas chromatography ferrules are the most common reason for their use. While they’re only a small component in any scientific process, they are just as important as any other part of your lab equipment, and if you use an unsuitable alternative or choose the wrong ferrule, the results of the scientific process you’re conducting could be made invalid.

What does a ferrule do?

Ferrules are used in laboratories for safely joining two components together, allowing liquids or gasses to pass through tubing without any of the substance escaping. The purpose of a ferrule is to be both airtight and watertight to protect the substance and - if it’s a potentially harmful substance - the people handling it.

Ferrules are made from different materials such as metal, graphite, vespel and PTFE, with the chosen material being based on the specific use. All these materials could be used for scientific processes like gas chromatography.

What size ferrule do I need?

Identifying the correct size of ferrule you need should be based around the equipment you’re using and the process you’re using it for. All ferrules should fit quite tight on the tube you’re connecting, in order to reliably prevent any substances from escaping and any outside interferences from affecting your results.

All scientific processes must be precise in order for them to return the best results, ruling out any chance of bias or unfairness towards a specific outcome. Even minor components in science equipment like ferrules need to be exact for an impartial result, so there’s an extensive range of different sizes to account for every shape and size of tube and or fitting being used.

AFS Gas Purifiers and Filters - Advanced Filter System 

The high-capacity gas purifying system that removes contaminants from inert gases and hydrogen. The AFS Purifiers can be expected to supply multiple GC Installations for an extended period of time depending on the laboratory environment.

The two part system includes a small stainless steel manifold and a high capacity purifier cartridge. The manifold mounts to a laboratory wall or bench with brackets included in the installation kit and connects to the gas lines with stainless steel compression fittings.

The AFS 1 PurifierCartridge removes oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons (greater than C4) from inert gases and hydrogen.   It contains a high sensitivity oxygen and moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the oxygen indicator changes from GREEN to GREYand the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN.

PolyGas AFS Purifier I Cartridge is a high capacity Non-Hazardous purifying system that removes oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons (greater than C4) from inert gases and hydrogen.  It contains a high sensitivity oxygen and moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the oxygen indicator changes from GREEN to GREY and the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN. 

The AFS II Purifier Cartridge removes moisture and hydrocarbons (greater than C4) from air, inert gases and hydrogen.  It contains a high sensitivity moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN. 

The AFS III Purifier Cartridge removes moisture from inert gases and hydrogen.  It contains a high sensitivity moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN.

The H2O filter for use with ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 using SFC

The ZPure H2O Filter removes moisture from inert gases, He, Ar, N2, H2, methane and clean dry air (CDA) to low ppb levels, with very high capacity. It is recommended for any application that requires ultra-dry gas, and is available in 130cc and 475cc stainless steel cylinders with standard 1/4” and 1/8” brass and stainless steel compression fittings.

ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 using Supercritical Fluid Chromatography has been approved as an alternative to FIA ASTM D1319 standard test method for Hydrocarbon Types in Liquid Petroleum Products. This filter was manufactured with molecular sieve 3A by customer request for use with a Supercritical Fluid Chromatograph.

Moisture Removal for Specialized Applications

  •  CO2 purification for SFC - In the petroleum industry, both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) have approved ASTM D6550 and ASTM D5186 for final product release of gasoline and diesel fuels. In this type of application, the reduced heating of 3A is expected to reduce desorption of already bound moisture, protecting sensitive and expensive columns.
  •  Mixed source gas - Purifiers should not be used to remove water from individual gas samples intended for analysis; some proportionation may occur.  Gas purifiers typically use either molecular sieve 5A or 13X adsorbents to remove water from gas streams. These are beneficial for carrier gases used with GC or GC/MS, because in addition to water they also remove many other common contaminants. (“5” and “13” refer to the adsorbent’s pore diameter in angstroms.) In some applications, however, 3A molecular sieve with smaller pore size may be preferred. It removes water yet excludes almost all larger molecules including CO2, the carrier used in Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC). Since CO2 is excluded there is no significant temperature rise on installation, due to heat of adsorption, which may occur with 5A or 13X purifiers.

AFS Gas Purifiers and Filters - Advanced Filter System 

The high-capacity gas purifying system that removes contaminants from inert gases and hydrogen. The AFS Purifiers can be expected to supply multiple GC Installations for an extended period of time depending on the laboratory environment.

The two part system includes a small stainless steel manifold and a high capacity purifier cartridge. The manifold mounts to a laboratory wall or bench with brackets included in the installation kit and connects to the gas lines with stainless steel compression fittings.

The AFS 1 PurifierCartridge removes oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons (greater than C4) from inert gases and hydrogen.   It contains a high sensitivity oxygen and moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the oxygen indicator changes from GREEN to GREYand the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN.

PolyGas AFS Purifier I Cartridge is a high capacity Non-Hazardous purifying system that removes oxygen, moisture and hydrocarbons (greater than C4) from inert gases and hydrogen.  It contains a high sensitivity oxygen and moisture indicator.  When the cartridge is depleted, the oxygen indicator changes from GREEN to GREY and the moisture indicator changes from BLUE to BROWN.
