Containing permethylated α-cyclodextrin embedded in an intermediate polarity stationary phase, Supelco α-DEX 120 columns provide unique selectivity for enantiomeric separations of small molecules. They are also recommended for separating positional isomers (phenols, xylenes, etc.).
α-DEX™ 120 was used in a GC column, in an experiment conducted to study the addition of catalytic enantioselective diethylzinc to a-substituted aldehyde, in presence of enantiopure ligand. It was also used to pack chiral column during GC analysis, in an experiment to investigate lipase-mediated desymmetrization of glycerol with aliphatic and aromatic anhydrides
